MECHANICS OF A HUBLESS FAN

Office Hallway

PRIMARY SUB-SYSTEMS

The main aspects of all Bragi Hubless platforms

DUCT

For our hubless fan system, the duct acts as the structural member that ties all of the other components together as well as an integration point onto aircraft or other systems. Additionally, The duct acts as the air-inlet and exhaust nozzle, contributing to the thrust output or power generation .

HUBLESS FAN

The heart and soul of Bragi's propulsion and power generation technology. The blades generate the thrust for a propulsion device. For a power generation device, the blades use wind or water to spin, powering the generators in the system.

DRIVE SYSTEM

Like any device with moving parts, our propulsion systems require a drive system. This could be an DC motor, a ring motor, a belt driven system, or anything that can drive the HL. We're currently researching other, less traditional drive system options, such as n-pole motors, hallbach arrays, and mag-lev. Depending on the requirements and operating environment, Bragi can optimize the right solution.

DYNAMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM

Whether it's traditional, mechanical bearings, fluid bearings, air bearings, the fan rotor needs solid and balanced support. As with the drive system, the requirements and operating environment will define the best choice for the platform.
