Bragi welcomes its newest member to the Board of Advisors

Bragi Inc’s Senior leadership welcomes Charles R. Smith to its Board of Advisors and shareholder. We are elated and honored to have Charlie on our team. Charlie is a nationally recognized expert in small business federal contracting. From 2017 – 2021 Charlie served in the Senior Executive Service as the Director, U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization where he was responsible for maximizing contracting and sub-contracting opportunities for small business federal contractors at DOE sites and 17 National Labs. He is a strategic advisor to the National Veterans Small Business Coalition and serves on the Board of Directors for Global Energy Transition, a non-profit organization dedicated to transitioning displaced oil and gas workers to clean energy employment opportunities. With over 25 years of experience in government contracting and legislative relations creating successful public/private partnerships in legislative, financial, and small business contracting initiatives. Charlie is also a veteran and served in the Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer onboard a guided missile destroyer.

Among Charlie’s numerous accomplishments are:


  • A direct report to the U.S. Secretary of Energy responsible for agency small business contracting.

  • Negotiated 100+ multi-million-dollar transactions with city and county governments across the U.S.

  • Held senior positions in in two federal and three NJ government administrations.

  • Managed five NJ statewide political campaigns for Governor and U.S. Senate.

  • Managed corporate legislative initiatives in nine states/territories (KS, KY, MA, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, USVI).

  • A director at the investment bank of JP Morgan Chase.

Charlie holds a Political Science from Princeton University. Charlie’s strong national network of federal, state, local government, and small business relationships will be a phenomenal asset to Bragi’s continued growth.
